The Iconic Verdansk Map Returns To Call of Duty: Warzone Next Month

Since its release in 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone quickly became one of the most successful entries in the franchise. The introduction of open-world maps like Verdansk map in Call of Duty: Warzone, provided players with endless opportunities for tactical gameplay and high-stakes action before it was replaced by Caldera in 2021.

Verdansk map, one of the most beloved maps in the Call of Duty community, has long been anticipated to return, as Activision announced in 2024. Now, as part of the franchise’s fifth anniversary celebrations, new updates are set to be released.

The Verdansk map is returning to battle royale on April 3 this month, alongside Warzone Season 3 and Black Ops 6. Announced on the official Call of Duty X account, this news has sparked excitement among fans, promising a nostalgic yet refreshed gameplay experience with potential updates in the map.

Importance: Warzone has had a rough time over the past 12 months. The game has faced serious backlash from the players due to cheating issues and stagnant content, raising concerns about its fan-base. Thus, Verdansk’s return is seen as a crucial step in reviving the Warzone.

Warzone’s Earlier Impact On Call Of Duty

Since its launch in March 2020, the free-to-play Warzone has amassed over 100 million players, with its popularity boosted by the pandemic. As a result, each new COD release since has been closely tied to the Warzone series.

The official Call of Duty account on X writes:

As we celebrate Call of Duty: Warzone’s 5 Year Anniversary, it’s time to revisit a place of unforgettable memories. Verdansk returns to Call of Duty: Warzone on April 3.

Why Activision Postponed Warzone and Black Ops 6?

Black Ops 6 and Warzone season 3 were initially set to release this month. However, the franchise unexpectedly delayed the launch by two weeks to April 3, stating that extra time was needed to ensure a high-quality experience.

Similarly, when Warzone season 2 and Black Ops 6 launched on January 28, they lacked significant updates or new content for battle royale players. Activision explained that this was due to the team’s focus on addressing core game issues.

Call of Duty Verdansk Map Prioritized Over Avalon

Additionally, the recent report about the Avalon map being scrapped suggests the franchise is now prioritizing a player-driven approach over introducing new upgrades.

Now, with Warzone 3 and Black ops 6 set to launch on April 3, fans hope the extra time will result in a smoother, content-rich experience that reignites excitement in the franchise.
