PlayStation State of Play Officially Announced For This Thursday

Previously, there was speculation that the alledged PlayStation Showcase, which was later rumored to be a State of Play, might not be happening anytime soon after Konami announced their Silent Hill Transmission. The belief was that Konami wouldn’t schedule their own event if a PlayStation event was imminent.

However, these speculations have been proven wrong as PlayStation has now officially announced a State of Play for Thursday, May 30, dispelling all previous rumors suggesting such an event wouldn’t occur.

Why it matters: PlayStation has numerous highly anticipated projects in development, which is why fans eagerly await events like a Showcase or State of Play to get updates on these games.

The show will last over 30 minutes, featuring 14 titles, and will begin at 3 pm PT / 6 pm ET | May 31, 12 am CEST / 7 am JST on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.

While a PlayStation Showcase would have been ideal, a State of Play is still exciting, especially since we were prepared for no event at all. Fortunately, we are not only getting a State of Play but also a Silent Hill Transmission on the same day.

As for the Konami Silent Hill Transmission, it seems that it would take place after the State of Play. So, what was seemingly a heart breaking moment for PlayStation fans, has now turned into a joyful moment.

The event is expected to focus on upcoming PS5 and PSVR2 titles. There are rumors about a new Astro Bot game from Team Asobi, Insomniac’s Wolverine, and a PC Port of God of War Ragnarok being revealed.

The most likely announcement is the PC Port of God of War Ragnarok, as a reliable leaker recently suggested the port would be announced soon, and the State of Play is a fitting stage for such a reveal.

Additionally, we might see updates from the Horizon franchise, which has several projects in development that we know little about, making this event a perfect opportunity for more information.
