The Polish developer People Can Fly was founded in 2002. The Studio was acquired by Epic Games in 2007 and embraced as Epic Games Poland. However, People Can Fly regained its independence in 2015 and has since collaborated with Square Enix, Epic Games, and now teams up with Sony.

Building on its reputation for delivering high-quality action peaked games like Bulletstorm and Outriders, the Studio has secured anther major partnership, this time with Sony Interactive Entertainment. In the investor report presented on March 3, 2025, people Can Fly confirmed its agreement with Sony.

As outlined in the investor report, the Studio is currently developing a prototype for Project Delta, a new game based on a Sony-owned IP. While in production under the codename Project Delta, details about the game remain scarce, other than the fact that it is based on PlayStation’s Intellectual Property.

Importance: The collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment, following successful partnerships with Epic Games and other major industry players, further solidifies PCF’s reputation as a top-tier development studio. With Sony funding the prototype production of Project Delta, a successful outcome could pave the way for a full-scale game and a long-term partnership.

People Can Fly Teams Up With Sony Under A Work-For-Hire Model

The agreement follows a work-for-hire model, meaning Sony retains ownership of the IP, while PCF develops the game under contract. Although this limits PCF’s control over the final product, it ensures financial stability and revenue through milestone payments.

Sony’s Funding Model For Project Delta Explained

The production agreement outlines that the Project Delta will go through multiple stages, known as milestones. Where each milestone will be representing a specific development phase, and People Can Fly will receive payments after each successful phase completion. Further details are documented in an additional section of the agreement, referred to as millstone schedule.

In line with industry standards, People Can Fly teams up with Sony under an agreement that follows terms and conditions consistent with typical AAA game development deals.

Potential Revival Of A Classic PlayStation Shooter

Due to People Can Fly’s expertise in shooter games, fans speculate that Project Delta could be revival of a classic PlayStation shooter, such as Resistance, Killzone or SOCOM. The codename Delta also hints at Delta Force, suggesting a military-themed tactical shooter.

In addition to Project Delta, the Studio is working on various other projects, including Microsoft’s Project Maverick, which is based on an existing Xbox IP and is rumored to be a PvP shooter. Furthermore, the Studio is assisting in the development of Gears of War: E-Day and developing its own new VR-based IP.
