Activision has officially announced that the highly-awaited Call of Duty x Squid Game collaboration will launch on January 3. This crossover will feature exclusive content, including limited-time game modes, weapon blueprints, operator skins, and more. The announcement follows the recent release of Squid Game’s second season, now streaming on Netflix.

Although not as expansive as Fortnite’s numerous collaborations, Call of Duty’s partnership with Squid Game adds to its growing list of crossovers.

Over the years, the franchise has teamed up with iconic horror series like Scream and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, featured hip-hop stars like Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, and even introduced skins for renowned footballers like Lionel Messi. With more collaborations expected in the future, fans can anticipate even more exciting content.

In a newly-released trailer, Activision confirmed that the Call of Duty x Squid Game event would debut on Friday, January 3. According to the trailer’s description, players can look forward to operator skins inspired by Squid Game, new weapon blueprints, and unique limited-time modes.

While the exact modes remain unconfirmed, the trailer hints at a “red light, green light” mode, inspired by the popular game from the series. In this mode, players must dash across a designated area while freezing in place whenever “red light” is called—failure to do so results in elimination.

The trailer also showcases several upcoming Squid Game skins available in Call of Duty. From the series’ iconic red jumpsuits to the ominous black-clad Front Man, players will have a wide range of cosmetic items to choose from.

Although Activision has yet to detail how these skins will be obtained, it’s likely they will be sold in themed bundles within the Call of Duty store starting January 3, alongside other exclusive content.

Call of Duty x Squid Is Expected To Be A Major Collaboration

Fans of Squid Game have even more to celebrate with the release of its second season on December 26. The new season, consisting of seven episodes, takes place three years after the events of the first season and brings back Seong Gi-hun as he re-enters the deadly games alongside a fresh group of participants. Following a three-year wait for Season 2, fans won’t have to wait as long for the series’ conclusion—Season 3, which will serve as the final chapter, is scheduled for release in 2025.
