A recent wave of excitement swept across the Xbox community after known leaker Extas1s claimed that Microsoft is developing a project to bring original Xbox and Xbox 360 games to PC. According to the rumor, the “Xbox Classics” project could bring retro titles to wider audience via Game Pass.

The rumor links the project to Xbox’s 25th anniversary in 2026, suggesting it may be a part of a larger wave of announcements. While Extas1s claims Microsoft is working with Xenia emulator team, causing excitement among fans.

However, the enthusiasm was quickly tempered by one of the parties allegedly involved—developers of the popular Xbox 360 Emulator Xenia—publicly denied any collaboration with Microsoft. The swift denial cast doubt on the credibility of the leak, sparking debates across forums and social media.

Importance: This development tempers expectations but underscores ongoing interest in preserving and expanding access to classic titles. The story remains a reminder of how eagerly fans await official announcements on Xbox’s retro gaming plan, even Xena denies Xbox classics collaboration.

Xenia Team Denies Xbox Classics Collaboration And Responds To Claims

Shortly after the Extas1s’ claim about Microsoft collaborating with Xenia emulator team on an “Xbox Classics” project, member of Xenia responded decisively in their official Discord server, categorically denying any involvement.

According to team member ZoloKluk, Microsoft already possesses its own internal Xbox 360 emulator and would not need to consult external projects like Xenia for such an initiative. The Xenia team stated that if involved, an NDA would prevent them from commenting.

Jez Corden Conforms No Current Xbox-Xenia Partnership

Jounalist Jez Corden also confirmed that while Xbox aims to expand game availability, the rumored collaboration with Xenia isn’t happening right now. Despite denials, Extas1s says Xenia joined Microsoft partnership, NDA rules likely explain their denial, hinting at 2026 announcement.

Confidentiality agreements may explain Xenia’s silence on potential Xbox Classics involvement, according to insiders

Meanwhile, Microsoft remains silent as Xenia denies collaboration, fueling ongoing speculation and discussion within the gaming community about the future of Xbox classics.
