Following the monumental success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, anticipation for the next chapter in The Witcher saga has been steadily growing, sparking widespread speculation and excitement across the gaming community.
But with growing hype comes growing risks. In a recent post on their official X account, The Witcher development team has issued a clear warning to fans: any invitations or messages claiming access to a beta test for The Witcher 4 are entirely fake and based on unfounded rumors.
Importance: These kinds of scams often involve phishing links or malware, can compromise personal information and accounts. By addressing this issue, CD Projekt Red reinforces the importance of staying vigilant and only trusting official sources for updates, especially as hype for The Witcher 4 grows.

CD Projekt Red Urges Fans To Report Fake Witcher 4 Beta Rumors
The statement came in response of growing reports from community members who had received suspicious email or messages offering early beta access. CD Projekt Red swiftly addressed the issue, labeling it a scam and urging fans to report such attempts using tools provided by email services and social media platforms.
Recently, we’ve been getting reports from some community members that they’ve been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — this is a scam!” the developers wrote.
“Professional monster slayers don’t fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!
No Beta Test For Witcher 4 Despite Ongoing Devlopment
The developers reassured fans that any future beta testing or game announcements will be made through official channels only. They emphasized that there are no beta tests currently running or planned at this stage that fans should be singing up for.
While the rumors about The Witcher 4 beta test are false, the game itself is very much a reality and is currently in active development. For years, fans have speculated about how the story might continue after Geralt’s journey in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Geralt Confirmed As Side Character In Witcher 4
Then, news surfaced confirming that Geralt will indeed make an appearance in The Witcher 4, though not as the main character. It wasn’t until The Game Awards 2024 that the devs finally unveiled the first official trailer for The Witcher 4. While the trailer kept most of the story hidden, it confirmed Ciri’s return as the protagonist.
While The Wicher 4 is not expected to launch until 2027 at the earliest, fans can delve into the reasoning behind CD Projekt Red’s decision to shift focus from Geralt to a Ciri-led story.
