Rockstar Is Reportedly Fixing Bully For PC After More Than A Decade
A new rumor suggests that Rockstar Games might be updating the PC version of Bully. While unconfirmed, this development has sparked excitement among fans, as the game has been largely overlooked by Rockstar in recent years.
According to Rockstar insider Tez2, the company has recently added a new development branch to the Steam version of Bully: Scholarship Edition, a game that hasn’t received updates in over a decade. The PC version of the game has long been criticized for issues like frequent crashes, and these changes might signal that Rockstar is addressing these problems.
Importance: It’s promising to see Rockstar finally addressing the long-standing crashing issues in Bully, as this has been a persistent problem for players. However, for many fans, this fix might feel like a case of “too little, too late,” given how long the issue has been left unresolved.
The move could be linked to plans to include the PC version of Bully in the GTA+ subscription service. While the title was added to GTA+ earlier this year, this only applied to console and mobile ports. However, Rockstar recently announced that PC players would soon gain access to GTA+ content, possibly prompting these updates.
This news comes on the heels of other Bully-related developments. In August, reports indicated that Bully received new age classifications in Taiwan. This could hint at a potential remastered version or simply reflect updates to its classifications for its availability on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through GTA+.
Given Rockstar’s track record of reviving its older games, a remaster wouldn’t be surprising. For now, fans might reasonably expect either a remastered Bully or a bug-free PC version.
Moreover, fans that are awaiting the next title in the Bully franchise are seemingly really far from their wishes becoming a reality anytime soon as Rockstar cannot afford to work on a project as big as a new instalment in the franchise alongside GTA 6.
The Bully franchise has been dormant for 18 years, and with the continued success of the Red Dead Redemption series, a new Bully installment appears to remain a distant prospect.
Bully was launched back in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and is often celebrated as one of Rockstar’s standout titles. Unlike other sandbox games from the developer, which centered around criminal protagonists like CJ or Tommy Vercetti, Bully offered a unique experience by placing players in the role of Jimmy, a high-school troublemaker.
