Phantom Blade Zero has surged to new levels of anticipation following its recent gameplay trailer reveal at the Summer Game Fest. The showcase has captivated many and is seemingly shaping up to be the next big souls-like title in gaming.

Recently, the game has been generating a lot of buzz. The gameplay trailer kickstarted this excitement, soon followed by leaked gameplay footage on a Chinese social media platform. Additionally, more details about the game were revealed during a Q&A session on the game’s official Discord server.

The Q&A session disclosed that the main story would be around 30-40 hours long and that the game would feature a multiplayer mode. Furthermore, there will be numerous side quests, which will increase the playtime for completionists.

The combat shown in the recent trailer was also confirmed to be captured in-engine, though it used a cinematic camera for the trailer. The actual game will have a clearer presentation and be less impactful to reduce dizziness.

From the gameplay trailer to the Q&A session, Phantom Blade Zero continues to impress, increasing our anticipation. We hope that S-GAME can deliver on its potential, as this game has the potential to elevate them to new heights.

The game becomes even more impressive when you realize that its developer, S-GAME, is venturing into the souls-like genre for the first time and has not yet been on the big stage, making this release crucial for them.

The souls-like subgenre was popularized by FromSoftware’s Dark Souls franchise. The series generated significant hype for its challenging gameplay and combat focus, drawing many players interested in action-packed experiences.

As the creators of this subgenre, FromSoftware has always dominated it. However, other developers are catching up, and Phantom Blade Zero has a substantial chance of rivaling FromSoftware in a subgenre they created and have long dominated.

Ultimately, the game’s success will be determined by the final product. While we hope Phantom Blade Zero delivers on its promises, only time will tell. For now, it seems promising, but the unpredictability of modern-day titles leaves us cautious.

We are eager to learn more about Phantom Blade Zero. Although there is no official release date, speculations suggest a late 2024 or early 2025 release.
