PlayStation Plus has long been a staple for gamers, offering access to a wide range of titles across multiple generations. However, with the ever-evolving nature of subscription services, changes are often on the horizon.

As the library continues to evolve, some fan-favorite games may soon be disappearing, leaving subscribers wondering about the future of their gaming catalog.

Sony has announced that several PlayStation exclusives and two classic PS3 titles are set to leave PlayStation Plus catalog soon. This move is noteworthy, as it’s uncommon for first-party games to be taken off the service. Along with these removals, PS Plus subscription prices in Cananda will increase for all tiers in June.

Importance: The removal of PlayStation exclusives and classic titles, coupled with a price hike for Canadian and other region’s subscribers, marks a shift in Sony’s strategy. These changs may impact subscriber satisfaction, as users’ loose access to key games while facing higher costs for the service.

First-party PS3 classics like Resistance are being removed, surprising long-time PlayStation fans.

Exclusive Titles Set To Leave, A Rare Shift In Sony’s Strategy

PlayStation Plus offers a rotating catalog of titles from PS3, PS4, and PS5, with PS3 games accessible only through Sony’s streaming service, while PS4 and PS5 titles can be played natively.

While the service frequently updates its library due to licensing and contract expirations, it’s uncommon for PlayStation first-party games to be removed, making such changes especially noteworthy.

A total of 22 titles are set to be removed from PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium, including classics from PS3. These games will be taken off the service on May 22, 2025. The list includes:

    • GTA V
    •  MotoGP 24
    • The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Pack
    • Resistance: Fall of Man
    • Resistance 2
    • Walkabout Mini Golf
    • Synth Riders
    • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord Frozen Empire
    • Before Your Eyes
    • The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
    • The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2
    • Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2
    • Stranded Alien Dawn
    • The Lego Movie 2 Video Game
    • Ghostrunner
    • Ghost
    • Payday 2 Crimewave Edition
    • Portal Knights
    • Enter the Gungeon
    • Batman Arkham Knight
    • Infamous Second Son
    • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
    • Journey to the Savage Planet

Unexpected Shake-up Hits PS Plus Library

Following a major overhaul in May 2024, a large-scale game removal from PS Plus was anticipated, However, the inclusion of first-party PS3 classics like Resistance in the removals is surprising, as they were expected to remain permanent. This marks the second largest PS Plus clear-out to date, with 25 titles removed last year.

Infamous Second Son, one of the standout PlayStation exclusives, set to leave PS Plus this May.

The upcoming PlayStation Plus exclusives and classics set to leave the platform highlight the ever-changing nature of subscription services, reminding players that access to digital libraries isn’t guaranteed. As the catalog shifts, players may need to reconsider how they engage with PS Plus and which games are worth owning outright.
