Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Wins Its First Award

Troy Baker’s portrayal of Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle earned widespread acclaim, culminating in the Best Acting in a Game award at the 14th Annual New York Game Awards on January 21. Released in December 2024, the game debuted too late to be considered for The Game Awards 2024 but has since received glowing reviews for its narrative, puzzles, and gameplay, holding a 95% recommendation rate on OpenCritic.

Troy Baker’s performance as Indiana Jones was a standout highlight, beating competitors such as Melina Juergens (Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2), John Eric Bentley (Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth), and Hannah Telle (Life is Strange: Double Exposure). Despite being Xbox’s only major win at the event, Baker’s nuanced portrayal—marked by subtle emotion and precise mannerisms—was celebrated by fans and critics alike.

Indiana Jones : the Great Circle Wins Big with Troy Baker

Developed by MachineGames, a ZeniMax Media-owned studio in Sweden, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle brings the iconic adventurer back to gaming for the first time since 2011. Set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game follows Indiana Jones as he thwarts villains seeking to exploit a powerful artifact. Fans of the film series have praised the game for capturing the humor and cleverness of the classic movies.

As the game continues to thrive, speculation suggests Disney is keen on expanding the Indiana Jones gaming universe, potentially allowing Baker to reprise his role. MachineGames has been actively enhancing the title through updates, including upcoming support for DLSS4 Multi-Frame Generation in line with the release of RTX 50 GPUs. While the game initially launched exclusively for PC and Xbox Series X/S, it is expected to arrive on PlayStation 5 in early 2025, though no specific release date has been announced.

In December 2024, a LinkedIn post hinted that MachineGames is working on several unannounced projects. While fans are hopeful for a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, others anticipate a new Wolfenstein game, as the last installment in that series will mark its sixth anniversary in 2025.
