Fortnite OG Reportedly Features Up To 90% Bots In Low Skill Based Matchmaking Lobbies

Following the return of Fortnite OG, which sparked massive excitement, and is supposedly performing really well with many old players returning to the game. However new reports have revealed that some matches may feature up to 90 bots in a single game.

Data miners and leakers, including the reliable source osirion_gg, have claimed that Fortnite OG lobbies in low skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) settings are populated by as many as 90 bots. These bots are typically placed in matches with players who have lower skill levels, allowing them to feel like they’re performing better and improving their experience.

Importance: Introducing bots to help low-skilled players develop their abilities is a commendable step towards creating a fair and balanced gaming environment. However, relying too heavily on bots might backfire, as it could make the gameplay feel overly simplified and take away from the challenge that keeps players engaged.

The reason behind this move is likely the influx of skilled players returning to Fortnite OG, which may have led to newer or less experienced players feeling outmatched. The presence of so many bots in these lobbies helps to balance the gameplay, giving lower-skilled players a better chance to succeed.

In contrast, high SBMM lobbies reportedly feature only 10 bots and 90 real players, ensuring a more competitive environment. Leaks have been further substantiated by videos showing what appear to be bot-controlled players, with many exhibiting low-level gameplay behavior.

Skill-based matchmaking has been a topic of debate in recent years. While some players argue that it negatively affects their enjoyment by creating unfair matches, others, like Activision with Call of Duty, claim that a strong SBMM system improves player retention by ensuring matches feel fairer and more rewarding.

Epic Games has yet to comment on the integration of bots and skill-based matchmaking in Fortnite OG, but any official statements on the matter will be shared as they become available.
