Ubisoft Working On Multiple Projects For Driver Franchise
Driver was one of Ubisoft’s most popular and unique franchise’s when it first launched, however, the franchise has been living in the shadow realm with no major game release since a whole decade.
Importance: The Driver franchise from Ubisoft has a lot of untapped potential that Ubisoft should definitely revisit, especially since demand for another major entry in the franchise has been really high.
The discovery came to light after it was revealed that Ubisoft had dissolved one of its movie and video-related subsidiaries, Hotrod Tanner LLC, named after the Driver series’ protagonist, in January.
The last mainline entry in the Driver video game series was 2011’s Driver: San Francisco. Despite the cancellation of the live-action series, Ubisoft assured Game File that it still has plans for the Driver franchise.
Additionally, earlier this month, Ubisoft confirmed that production has started on a Watch Dogs movie. The film will star Sophie Wilde and Tom Blyth, and will be directed by Mathieu Turi. Ubisoft confirmed that work on the movie was going along well.
We are excited and looking forward to all of Ubisoft’s upcoming projects, especially in the Driver series, as we here at Techtroduce are big fans of the franchise since the PS1 era. We were deeply impressed by the unique mechanic of seamless car shifting in Driver: San Francisco and are eagerly awaiting further projects in the franchise.
