Horizon 3 Will Be Releasing Later Than Expected, Claims Insider

Since the launch of its first title, the Horizon franchise has rapidly become one of PlayStation’s most beloved exclusives, garnering acclaim from around the globe. The franchise has grown so significantly that Guerrilla Games is now managing an impressive total of 16 Horizon projects.

Among these is an online Horizon game and the third instalment in the mainline Horizon franchise, both of which has been in development for some time.

Recently, reliable insider Jason Schreier revealed at Spawncast that the online Horizon game is set to release before the highly anticipated third main installment in the series.

However, insiders, including Jason Schreier during a recent episode of Spawncast, have indicated that the multiplayer game will likely be released first.

Importance: It appears that fans eagerly awaiting the next mainline single-player installment in the Horizon franchise will have to wait longer than usual.

Jason noted that the next single-player entry is still “a ways off,” suggesting that fans will need to be patient.

Schreier also pointed out that Sony’s commitment to live-service games is serious, and the Horizon multiplayer project is one of the few that has survived recent cancellations. This suggests a strong belief in the game’s potential, particularly after the disappointing performance of Concord.

With development reportedly ongoing since at least 2018, it is likely that Guerrilla is nearing completion of the multiplayer project.

There have also been rumors that the multiplayer game could feature even larger machines, which could be a great attracting feature for players. However, the challenge of maintaining post-launch support remains a concern.

Previous experiences, like Naughty Dog’s cancellation of The Last of Us Online due to the substantial resources needed for live-service maintenance, leave questions about how Guerrilla will approach support for their Horizon multiplayer title.

However, we have high hopes from Guerrilla Games as they have so far not disappointed with the Horizon franchise and has consistantly delivered greatness so we are quite optimistic about the online Horizon game.
