Fortnite: All Passes Will Progress With XP In The Future
Level grinding has long been a staple in gaming, adding an element of engagement in both multiplayer and single-player experiences. However, it can sometimes feel tedious.
Fortnite is a prime example, where the grind for rewards can feel overwhelming, especially given the game’s variety of modes. Fortunately, it seems Epic Games has recognized this and is planning adjustments to improve the experience.
Epic Games has recently announced upcoming changes to streamline Fortnite’s pass progression system. Starting December 1, all Fortnite passes will progress simultaneously through XP earned across any game mode, including Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.
Importance: Balancing the effort players put into earning in-game rewards without overwhelming them with excessive grinding is a commendable move by Epic Games. This approach keeps the gameplay rewarding while ensuring it remains enjoyable and accessible.
Currently, this unified progression system applies to the Battle Royale Battle Pass only. But beginning November 2, it will expand to the new Music Pass, which will replace the Festival Pass. By December 1, the Brick or Treat Lego Pass will also join this updated system.
Epic plans to retire Festival Points, Battle Stars, and Studs. In their place, the Music and Lego Passes will move to a single track with both free and premium rewards, similar to the current Battle Pass setup. Players will still need to purchase each pass separately to unlock all premium rewards.
Additionally, Epic teased an upcoming option for buying all premium passes together. In an FAQ, Epic confirmed a new feature allowing players to directly purchase individual pass rewards without needing to unlock previous levels.
Epic also recently announced that some Fortnite Battle Pass items will no longer remain exclusive. Starting 18 months after their original release, any type of Battle Pass item may be sold separately.
