Elden Ring Sales In UK Rises Almost 500% Thanks To Shadow Of The Erdtree

Elden Ring has risen to new levels of popularity ever since its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC dropped. The expansion has allowed many players to return to the game to showcase their skills, along with attracting many new players who are getting into the game.

According to GSD data published by GamesIndustry.biz, which tracks physical sales and digital sales, Elden Ring sales jumped 467% month-on-month in the UK. This surge saw the game climb 19 places to No. 4 on the monthly software sales chart, led by EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto 5.

Importance: Content is one of the most critical aspects of a game, capable of either making or breaking it. Additional content like Shadow of the Erdtree can have massive impact on the base game, pushing it out to a wider audience.

Elden Ring Won Game of The Year Award 2022

The release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which requires the base game to play, was a key factor in this sales increase. Late May release F1 24 was the highest new entry at No. 3, despite a 44% drop in sales compared to F1 23’s first five weeks on the market. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD entered at No. 14, achieving this rank based solely on physical sales, as Nintendo does not share digital data.

On the hardware front, monthly console sales fell 9% compared to June 2023, according to GfK data. The PS5 maintained its position as the best-selling console, while the Xbox Series X/S narrowly outsold the Nintendo Switch.

During the first half of the year, console sales were down 29% in units and 31% in revenue compared to 2023, when the PS5 and Switch performed significantly better.

While things were not great for consoles, we are glad to see Shadow of the Erdtree getting the recognition it so rightfully deserves, as it is the perfect addition to an already amazing game. We are excited and looking forward to what FromSoftware has for us in the future.
