Borderlands 4 Is Coming 2025; Official Trailer Reveals
The highly anticipated Borderlands 4 has been officially announced, with a release date set for 2025. The announcement was made during Gamescom Opening Night Live, where a teaser trailer for the game was unveiled.
The trailer provides a glimpse into the latest installment of the acclaimed looter shooter series. The game’s description reveals that players will take on the role of a legendary Vault Hunter, battling through waves of enemies on a brand-new planet while hunting for new loot.
Unlike Borderlands 3, which was an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC for six months, Borderlands 4 is already listed on Steam for wishlisting.
Importance: Borderlands 4 has been one of the most highly anticipated titles for quite some time, with fans clamoring for it ever since the release of Borderlands 3. Now, we finally have an official trailer for the game, marking the next step in the beloved franchise.
Randy Pitchford, the founder and president of Gearbox Entertainment, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming title. He stated that the team has had grand ambitions for the franchise ever since they introduced the looter shooter genre with the original Borderlands.
According to Pitchford, Borderlands 4 aims to elevate everything fans love about the series while exploring exciting new directions. Earlier this year, publisher 2K confirmed that the next Borderlands installment was in active development, shortly after announcing the acquisition of Gearbox Entertainment from Embracer Group for $460 million.
In an interview last month, Pitchford hinted that fans wouldn’t have to wait too long for more information about the game. He acknowledged that it had been difficult to keep the project under wraps but assured fans that the team was working on something big that would delight long-time followers of the series.
Pitchford expressed his excitement, stating that he is thrilled with the current team, which he described as the best he’s ever had. He added that the team is focused on delivering exactly what fans want, and while he’s eager to share more, the official announcement will come at the right time.
Since its debut in 2009, the Borderlands series has sold nearly 87 million units worldwide, according to 2K. The most recent main entry, Borderlands 3, released in 2019, is the publisher’s fastest-selling game, having shipped over 20 million copies. Additionally, 2012’s Borderlands 2 remains 2K’s best-selling game, with more than 29 million units sold since its launch.
We are eager to see if Borderlands 4 will be able to surpass the records set by its predecessors, as it is undeniably the most anticipated title in the franchise to date. Only time will tell how it unfolds, but until then, we remain hopeful for the best outcome.
